The Assistant Director of Hudson Community Education and Recreation (HCER) is responsible for the implementation and coordination of various community recreational and educational programs. This includes overseeing preschool, youth, and adult programs, managing sports leagues, and planning special events. The role requires a hands-on leadership style and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. The Assistant Director will also be involved in marketing strategies, community engagement, and budget management.

  • Assist in the implementation and coordination of preschool, youth, and adult community recreational and educational programming.
  • Serve as Site Supervisor for HCER programs and leagues, managing multiple sites during games and facility scheduling.
  • Track and record game scores and assist with equipment ordering and distribution.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of marketing and communication strategies.
  • Coordinate the sales of program guide advertisements and assist advertisers with concept and design.
  • Assist with men's summer athletic programs, developing schedules and tracking team scores.
  • Participate in collaborative planning and development of HCER identified goals.
  • Protect district property and ensure program facilities are secured.
  • Strengthen relationships with district partners through collaborative initiatives.
  • Attend community fairs, programs, and meetings to support district and departmental goals.
  • Conduct research to identify the needs and interests of adults in the community.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor adult programs, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints.
  • Work with the Community Aquatics Coordinator to enhance programming at Ada Cooper Miller Natatorium.
  • Coordinate outside rentals with community members, pool staff, and outside vendors.
  • Contribute to district committees as required to align with organizational objectives.
  • Seek professional development and continued education opportunities.
  • Obtain industry certifications related to responsibilities.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of departmental operating budgets.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Sport Management, Recreation, or Education preferred.
  • Experience with recreation programming, community programming, sports league management, and special event planning.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Canva.
  • Ability to think creatively, solve problems effectively, and organize multiple events simultaneously.
  • Skill in developing/managing people and a hands-on leadership style.
  • Flexibility, reliability, self-discipline, and willingness to take on challenging tasks.
  • Certification in CPR/AED or willingness to become certified upon offer of employment.
  • Starting pay range established by the Board of Education, starting at $75,289, commensurate with education level, qualifications, and experience.
