About The Position

The Assistant Director of Housekeeping serves as a vital member of the Housing Leadership Team. The Assistant Director is a key player in leading a mission and values driven organization serving an on campus student population of approximately 6,400 students in 40 buildings and 1.8 million square feet. The position includes developmental supervision of 6 full time professional team leads. The Assistant Director is responsible for: development and administering housekeeping services for the residence halls; setting and reinforcing operational policies and procedures for staff; budget preparation and administration of approximately 3 million dollars; developing recruitment and retention programs for staff; supporting staff; creating training programs for staff; procurement of supplies and equipment.

Requirements

  • 3 years of housekeeping management experience
  • Working knowledge of housekeeping program development and planning
  • Knowledge of safety/ OSHA standards
  • Experience with inventory control
  • Software skills: proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Financial analysis skills related to housekeeping management
  • Purchasing and procurement experience is necessary
  • A valid driver’s license

  • Position prefers candidates with strong oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish languages
  • 3-5 years full-time supervisory experience in higher education
  • Highly effective interpersonal communication skills in 1 on 1 and group settings, and as a presenter / trainer; demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
  • Ability to effectively communication and connect with individuals with lived experience different than their own
  • Strong organizational, planning, analytic, and problem-solving skills; demonstrated crisis management skills; excellent judgment and ability to handle challenging conversations with students, staff, collaborators, and student family members; demonstrated experience effectively training professional and student staff in multiple topic areas
  • Experience running searches for professional and student staff; experience facilitating restorative and challenging dialogues
