About The Position

The Assistant Director for the Gender Relations Center (GRC) leads the department’s mission in promoting healthy relationships and restorative and compassionate dialogue through education on gender, intersectionality, and student leadership formation. This AD will spearhead initiatives and communications that contribute to the GRC’s work in the campus community, rooted in the University’s Catholic identity and values. This full-time, in person, 12-month position, includes regular and weekend responsibilities during the academic year, with limited after-hours commitments during the summer.

Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a master's degree, preferably in Theology/Ministry, College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Education, or related fields.
  • 2+ years in ministry or administration, ideally within Catholic higher education or a non-profit agency.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement programs for diverse populations.
  • Experience creating and managing communication campaigns and promotional materials for a department.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in higher education with faculty, staff, and students at all levels.
  • Student supervisory experience of student leaders and initiatives promoted by them.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including a willingness to create a challenging but welcoming environment for all people.
  • The successful candidate will also possess a commitment to formulating opportunities consistent with the mission of a Catholic university founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross.

Nice To Haves

  • Competence with design and digital communication tools, including but not limited to Adobe Creative Cloud, content management systems, and/or Emma is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Program Coordination and Implementation: Following the GRC, Belonging and Engagement Area, and Institutional goals, the AD will plan, coordinate and execute programming throughout the academic year, covering gender, healthy relationships, and related social topics. Collaboration with academic departments, partner departments in the Sister Thea Bowman Center, the Division of Student Affairs, and other campus units is expected to increase program visibility, engagement and the GRC’s impact.
  • Marketing and Communications: Serve as the primary point of contact for all internal and external communications of the GRC, including newsletters, staff circulars, calendars, and social media platforms. Work with other campus partners to submit advertisements and information on GRC events. Supervise student Graphic Designers to create marketing materials, merch, and informational materials for the office. Manage basic content updates for the GRC’s website.
  • Training and Campus Education: Design, implement, and assess student training on issues related to the GRC’s mission and focus areas, especially those that relate to gender equity programming. Promote and facilitate educational workshops and simulation exercises that raise awareness of topics related to the GRC’s focus areas and contribute to the formation of the Residential Hall staff and other student groups.
  • Miscellaneous: Support the GRC’s administrative duties as needed, including but not limited to graduate student programming and services; office communications, assessment, budget, or co-sponsorship opportunities; serving on University committees as assigned; serving as a liaison to other Catholic colleges/universities and local nonprofits as assigned.
  • Belonging and Engagement: Participates as an integral member of the Belonging and Engagement team, working closely and collaborating with the Multicultural Student Programs and Services, the Office of Student Enrichment, and the Sister Thea Bowman Center. Regularly collaborates with other areas within the Division of Student Affairs (Student Development, Campus Ministry, Residential Life, Student Health and Wellness, Career Development), student clubs and organizations, and other University units to enhance the GRC’s work.
