The Assistant Director for Supplemental Instruction and Tutoring Services (SUITS) plays a crucial role in enhancing student retention and success at the University. This position is part of the Student Success Center leadership team and is responsible for developing, managing, and evaluating academic support services that are inclusive and data-informed. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Associate Dean and Director to implement strategies that improve student learning outcomes and facilitate a supportive environment for all students from enrollment to graduation.

  • Develop, manage, oversee, and assess Supplemental Instruction and Tutoring Services (SUITS) and the Math Center.
  • Provide professional exploratory academic advising to undeclared students.
  • Offer solutions-oriented and resiliency-focused student success coaching.
  • Teach one to two first-year and/or second-year courses aimed at improving student resiliency and success outcomes.
  • Assist with career readiness and professional development activities.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with various campus stakeholders.
  • Use student information systems to provide effective information while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Participate in the emergency on-call program rotation to support students in difficulty.
  • Promote inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, and a sense of belonging for students and staff.
  • Complete routine administrative functions such as budgeting and report-writing.
  • Support signature student experiences and events.
  • Serve on university or community committees as recommended.
  • Implement emergency communication plans and protocols.
  • Seek and propose opportunities for ongoing professional development.
  • Communicate effectively university and department goals and policies.
  • At least a master's degree in a discipline related to the position.
  • Direct experience providing related services to individuals.
  • At least three years of direct or transferable experiences (preferred).
  • Teaching experience, preferably in college studies or university seminars.
  • Experience in a college or university setting (preferred).
  • Experience supervising student or professional staff (preferred).
  • Experience using student service or retention technological tools.
  • SI Supervisor Training from the International Center for Supplemental Instruction.
  • Experience working in or managing federal TRIO educational outreach programs.
  • Experience with enforcing the Americans with Disabilities Act and related regulations.
  • Experience applying wellness, student development, advising, and trauma-informed practices.
