About The Position

The Virginia Tech Department of Athletics is seeking an Assistant Director for Olympic Sports / Equipment Services who will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating all aspects of equipment and uniform services for the Olympic Sports teams. This position is responsible for overseeing the ordering, distribution, collection, cleaning, repairing, and inventory management of all play and practice equipment and uniforms utilized by the teams. The Assistant Director will supervise student equipment managers and graduate assistants, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the Olympic Sports Equipment Room. This role requires effective communication and collaboration with senior administrative staff and coaches to address the equipment and uniform needs of student-athletes. The successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations related to practice and competition equipment, ensuring compliance and best practices are upheld. In addition to the operational responsibilities, the Assistant Director will be expected to maintain a commitment to diversity and inclusion within the department. The position reports directly to the Sr. Director of Equipment Services and is integral to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all individuals involved in Virginia Tech Athletics. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in sports equipment management, particularly within Division I athletics, and will have experience working with various sports equipment vendors. This role is vital in ensuring that student-athletes have access to the necessary equipment and uniforms to perform at their best, while also promoting a culture of respect and inclusion within the athletic community.
