About The Position

Responsible for the creation and development of programs and activities in the Student Inclusion and Belonging Office (SIB) to advance the University’s commitment to the core value of intentional inclusion. Plays a lead role in cultivating a culture of inclusion across campus where all students can find a space of belonging on campus. In coordination with the Director, ensures the success of SIB’s educational programs and activities as well as develops future initiatives that promote student inclusion and belonging and dialogue across difference both within SIB itself and in close collaboration with partners internal and external to the University.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Three full-time years of experience in student facing programming and event planning.
Knowledge of inclusion and belonging related topics and trends within higher education.
Knowledge of student development theories and student leadership theories.
Demonstrated evidence of initiative-taking in prior roles.
Evidence of strong communication skills, including excellent writing/editing/formatting abilities.
Knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of office procedures and good customer service.
Ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders including staff, faculty, and students.
Ability to set priorities, work in a fast-paced environment, and ability to effectively manage multiple competing tasks with poise and patience.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to facilitate and implement training, presentations, and event programming.
Ability to create and maintain good working relationships with partners internal and external of the University.
Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.
Ability to provide feedback and evaluate student employees and staff.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree from an accredited institution in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Student Affairs, or other closely related field.
Experience within Student Affairs with student advising, coaching, training, leadership education, counseling, and student programming.
Experience with designing and implementing student programming, both small- and large-scale, including event logistics and marketing.
Experience with supervising and training student staff and/or graduate assistants.
Experience with creating and facilitating trainings and presentations to staff, faculty, and/or students on topics related to inclusion and belonging.
Proven commitment to and appreciation for issues related to inclusion and belonging.
Experience designing and conducting assessment and evaluation tools to enhance programming and services.
Knowledge of marketing and relevant event management tools such as Canva, GivePulse, Linktree, Presence, etc.
Knowledge of assessment tools such as Qualtrics, Google Suite, etc.
Ability to develop learning and development outcomes/goals.
Ability to guide students through conflict resolution and dialogue across difference.
Demonstrated ability to be adaptable in changing work environments.
Ability to articulate issues and trends in higher education.

Responsibilities

Creates and develops programs and educational activities designed to impact recruitment, retention, belonging and graduation. Following set risk management and safety guidelines, procedures and policies.
Plans and facilitates events/activities including event logistics for office specific programs, campus-wide events, and San Antonio area events that support proactive and inclusive practices to increase sense of belonging.
Facilitates the development of events related to observance/heritage/awareness months, weeks, and days (e.g., Hispanic Heritage Month, First-Gen Week, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Indigenous Heritage Month, etc.).
Plans and facilitates the University’s participation in the city-wide annual MLK Jr. Day march and Cesar Chavez celebrations. Promote student engagement with the city of San Antonio.
Plans and facilitates the inclusive celebrations for graduating seniors each spring semester which include AAPI, De Colores, Kente, Lavender, and First-Gen.
Supports the First-Gen Tigers Program by assisting with the planning and development of educational events/activities and mentoring components. Serves as the co-advisor for the Alpha Alpha Alpha (Tri-Alpha) Honor Society and co-facilitates the annual Tri-Alpha Induction Ceremony.
Researches and implements best practices related to inclusion and belonging programming grounded in student development theory.
Develops and maintains communications and marketing campaigns such as website content, educational resources, flyers, presentations, and social media.
Coordinates and facilitates professional development and educational awareness workshops and trainings in collaboration with various campus partners for the benefit and enhancement of the campus community.
Supervises student assistants for the office including conducting search processes, hiring, managing student work schedules, designating duties, training and coordinating professional development for student assistants. Serves as a professional advisor and provides complete oversight of Trinity Diversity Connection (TDC), a University Sponsored Organization (USO) responsible for campus programming (including late night and weekend programming). Directs all aspects of TDC’s programming on campus to include understanding university procedures and policies, program planning, evaluation, assessment and budget management responsibilities.
Provides support to cultural and identity-based student organizations (RSOs/USOs) and/or access to on and off campus resources such as connections with relevant staff/faculty resources or local city agencies, businesses, non-profits, organizations, and institutions.
Responsible for developing strong working relationships and collaborations with campus partners, inclusion and belonging centered groups to implement programs, create events, and initiatives.
Assists in the development and administration of assessment tools to evaluate and measure the impact of the initiatives, events and programs. Develops educational programming with learning and development goals aligned with the University strategic plan and the Student Affairs strategic plan.
Assists with SIB data collection, analysis, and presentation of data through annual reports. Responsible for following and implementing procedures and policies regarding the SIB and TDC fiscal budget, office resources, travel and other operational logistics.
Provides professional support, as needed, to the Director and the Student Affairs Division.
Collaborates with other Student Affairs staff and participates in the life of the University by serving on committees, attending functions and being available for special assignments. Supports the SIB team with Orientation and Transitions programming as needed (e.g., Tiger Takeoff, New Tiger Orientation, Spring New Tiger Orientation, Major Declaration Day, etc.).
Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interacts with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during sensitive situations. Manages data collection, analysis and overall representation of the office.
Represents the University in relevant professional organizations. Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines. Performs other duties as required.
