About The Position
The Assistant Director for Fitness plays a crucial role in enhancing the participation and diversification of fitness programs at Wake Forest University. This position is responsible for overseeing a variety of fitness offerings, including group fitness classes, personal training, small group training, and custom fitness programs. The Assistant Director will lead a team of full-time, part-time, and student fitness employees, ensuring that all programs are effectively evaluated and assessed for quality and engagement. Collaboration with Campus Life partners is essential to promote student engagement and foster physical well-being among all members of the campus community. In this role, the Assistant Director will provide leadership and administrative support to ensure the successful operation of a comprehensive and diverse fitness program. This includes increasing and diversifying program offerings and participant engagement. The Assistant Director will supervise the Fitness Coordinator and part-time staff, develop annual goals with appropriate evaluation metrics, and design a comprehensive group fitness program that includes both standardized and customized classes. Additionally, the Assistant Director will implement a staff development program for fitness employees and manage the risk associated with fitness programs, ensuring safety and fiscal responsibility. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for managing fitness budgets, ensuring accountability for expenditures, and meeting or exceeding annual net profit goals for fitness programs. This includes assessing participation numbers, learning outcomes, and satisfaction levels, as well as developing robust marketing strategies for fitness offerings. A key aspect of this role is fostering an inclusive environment that welcomes all members of the campus community, particularly those from under-represented populations. The Assistant Director may also coordinate or assist with special projects as assigned.
