The Assistant Director for Alumni and Parent Engagement at Carleton College plays a crucial role in enhancing the career development of students and young alumni by managing a portfolio of alumni and parent volunteers. This position focuses on recruiting volunteers, developing student programming, and supporting overall career education initiatives aligned with the Career Center's mission.

  • Oversee the identification, ongoing engagement, and stewardship of a strategic alumni and parent volunteer force to support Career Center initiatives.
  • Liaise with campus partners to create opportunities for alumni and parent career programming.
  • Collaborate with Career Center leadership and External Relations staff on alumni and parent leadership efforts.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for alumni and parent volunteers.
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of alumni and parent engagement experiences and share outcomes of programs across college stakeholder groups.
  • Oversee collection and reporting of data related to alumni and parent volunteer engagement in Career Center activities.
  • Support the employer relations team to engage with alumni and parent employer partners.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field (preferred: education, higher education, management).
  • Experience working with volunteers, students, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication skills, including presentation and writing.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage complex projects and programs.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data for a variety of stakeholder audiences.
  • Willingness to travel and engage in evening and weekend commitments as needed.
  • Proven ability to effectively recruit, manage, and cultivate volunteers.
  • Experience designing, planning and managing high-profile events.
  • At least five years of experience in career development, alumni relations, and/or family relations in a liberal arts setting.
