About The Position

The Assistant Director, Equity, Civil Rights, and Title IX and Deputy Title IX Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the Equity, Civil Rights, and Title IX (ECRT) Office at the University of Michigan-Flint. This position is responsible for investigating allegations of discrimination and harassment, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and policies, and promoting a diverse and inclusive campus environment. The Assistant Director collaborates with various campus partners to conduct trainings, compile compliance reports, and provide consultation on equity and diversity issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study.
  • Five or more years of experience conducting investigations related to sexual harassment and discrimination.
  • Knowledge of federal and state non-discrimination laws, including Title IX and ADA.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software for report writing and training presentations.
  • Experience conducting training and identifying resources for students, faculty, and staff.

  • Familiarity with compliance reporting and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Review, investigate and document allegations and charges of discrimination and harassment from students, faculty, and staff.
  • Prepare written investigation reports and maintain files and case status database.
  • Provide department or organization climate reviews related to discrimination and harassment concerns.
  • Consult and resolve faculty, staff, and student ADA concerns or complaints.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on recruitment and hiring processes to facilitate diverse candidate pools.
  • Investigate and report findings related to sexual harassment and discrimination complaints.
  • Act as an impartial party during investigations and analyze findings.
  • Prepare required written reports and monitor compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Deliver campus-wide educational programming and training on equity and inclusiveness.
  • Provide consultation on institutional equity and diversity/ADA issues to senior leadership.
