About The Position

The Assistant Director, Digital Communications is responsible for managing digital communications and content creation for Dallas College Foundation, working under the direction of the Senior Director, External Engagement and Impact. Working in partnership with other Foundation and College staff, the Assistant Director will increase DCF’s audience and external presence through innovative communications strategies that boldly tell our story and put a spotlight on our impact. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and copy editor with experience driving engagement through digital platforms, including social media, and a knack for bold storytelling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (Master’s preferred) in related field and at least five (5) years’ experience in related field required.
  • Strong communication, organizational and time management skills required.
  • Must have valid driver’s license if traveling to off-site locations.
  • Official transcripts, license and/or certification are required.

  • Excellent writing, proofing, and storytelling skills
  • Strong understanding of audience development and segmentation
  • Demonstrated understanding of nonprofit, education, or fundraising communications and content strategies
  • Demonstrated experience managing content libraries or story banks for easy access and reuse.
  • Experience in determining and developing digital content based on client objectives and media type.
  • Maintain graphic and messaging consistency and brand standards across all deliverables.
  • Willingness to join a diverse team and grow skills in leading through positive motivation, mentoring and management.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to serve in a marketing and communications design consulting role to internal constituents, finding creative solutions that meet organizational goals.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels including administration, staff, faculty, students and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Comfortable operating successfully in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to follow through with multiple simultaneous projects, lead and delegate design projects to Dallas College Foundation’s network of vendors, agencies, and contractors

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.
  • Not required, but valued: photography or video production, experience in Mailchimp or similar email platforms, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Adobe Express especially)

Responsibilities

  • Manage Dallas College Foundation’s social media presence, including posting strategy, engagement with other accounts, content creation, paid social campaigns and staying abreast of the latest in social media strategy, algorithms, and best practices
  • Develop strategic email campaigns, including drafting copy, selecting media, setting up automation, and assisting with segmentation strategies
  • Manage Dallas College Foundation’s blog, generating original content that boosts DCF’s brand and keeps donors engaged
  • Write compelling, human-centered copy and messaging for a variety of platforms
  • Work with DCF’s internal and external creative partners to create digital content sharing DCF’s impact through the stories of our alumni, donors, and industry partners
  • Track and analyze content and campaign performance, offering insights to inform strategy, and proactively integrate data tracking and data-driven decision making in all communications
  • Develop and maintain robust content management and organization systems
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and current events to inform messaging and communications strategy. Stay informed on current industry standards and techniques; stays up-to-date with technological advances.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards and adherence to applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Complete required Dallas College professional development training hours per academic year.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
