About The Position

The Assistant Director of the Development Research Institute (DRI), with its Wahba Initiative for Strategic Competition (WISC), provides critical operational, programmatic, and logistical support for one of NYU's globally visible institutes. Manages daily operations, coordinates international and domestic events, oversees fellow and student engagement, and ensures efficient communication among internal and external stakeholders. Edits and disseminates publications, ensuring that DRI maintains its reputation for excellence and global impact. Provides logistical support to the WISC Global Advisory Council and coordinates visiting academic fellows, including office and meeting room assignments, affiliated faculty and global fellows. This is a 3-year fixed-term position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 5+ years in program coordination, academic administration, or related field.
  • Experience organizing events, coordinating publications, and managing budgets.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including copy editing.
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple geographies and time zones.
  • Proficiency in database management and CRM/email platforms.
  • Proficiency in audience cultivation through social media platforms.
  • Event coordination skills for in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats.
  • Budget monitoring and financial systems experience.
  • Ability to coordinate fellowship logistics, including office/meeting space assignments.
  • Familiarity with grant application processes and compliance monitoring.
  • Willingness to engage in calls and communications outside of normal business hours.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in public policy, international affairs, economics, business or related field.
  • 5+ years University or think tank program management experience.
  • Experience coordinating international events and working with global partners.
  • Familiarity with HubSpot for audience cultivation, mail campaigns, and contact database management.
  • Experience developing targeted communications and building audiences through newsletters and social media.
  • Strong copy editing and content preparation skills for publications and event materials.
  • Fundraising and donor relations support experience.
  • Familiarity with international development and strategic competition issues.
  • Well-versed in quality data collection with ability to strictly follow data privacy/security procedures.
  • Experience supporting faculty in preparing grant applications.
