About The Position

Responsible for providing support to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction (DCI) as a mentor and coach to Site Managers, Supervising Teachers and Home Visitor Teachers; teaching skills to drive instruction and educational outcomes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education, or related field of study with at least 2+ years’ experience in the Early Learning and/or Early Childhood Education field.
  • Must possess good analytical, decision-making and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to handle highly sensitive and confidential information and possess a high degree of initiative, tack, and good judgment.
  • Must be well organized and be able to manage multiple priorities and requests.
  • Excellent computer skills, strong leadership qualities, and organization skills.
  • Current valid driver’s license and an insured vehicle. Travel between sites in the greater Cleveland area, as needed.
  • No record of child abuse or moral turpitude as determined by background check based on fingerprints.
  • Flexibility in working hours is essential.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid, Communicable Disease, Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention required upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing Ohio Approved Trainings through OCCRRA (Ohio Child Care Resource and Referral Association) preferred.
  • Direct experience working in a Head Start program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the DCI in providing leadership and direction to the division for all educational matters including articulating clear program objectives, setting goals, and defining success factors.
  • Identify needs and make recommendations for education resources to support teacher knowledge, program enhancements and classroom environments.
  • Assist the DCI through aiding and leading program and project enhancements, management, deliverables and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with community partners to enhance the early learning program.
  • Establish standard vehicles for open communication between early learning leaders and teaching teams in order to facilitate horizontal and vertical integration and articulation of the instructional program throughout the division.
  • Provide on-site coaching (modeling, observation/feedback), training and/or technical assistance. Provide documentation of site visits and action plans to teaching staff, site managers, Director of Curriculum, and Instruction on a weekly basis.
  • Applies professional knowledge of child development principles to develop, arrange, conduct, and monitor curriculum/child development training for teaching staff and assists with training for parents and volunteers.
  • Train and support new staff during the orientation period, using the High/Scope approach and conscious discipline. In conjunction with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, facilitate onboarding training, in-service training, Ohio Early Learning and Development Standards, Head Start Child Development and Early Learning Framework training, annual staff orientations, staff professional & appreciation days.
  • Experience developing Ohio Approved training hours in various topics and be willing to submit agendas and obtain approval from the Ohio Department of Education for additional Ohio Approved trainings based on data and teacher needs.
  • Ensure on-going monitoring, tracking, follow-up and analysis of child development services, and child outcomes.
  • Support teaching staff in ensuring that child achievement data is used to drive instruction in the classroom and at site level.
  • In conjunction with the site managers, establish a working system that ensures all staff follow the High/Scope Educational Approach, the High/Scope COR assessment tool, and utilize intentional teaching practices.
  • Attends training at local, state and national conferences in order to keep abreast of Early Childhood techniques.
  • Participate in Grantee, Agency and community activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
