About the position

The Assistant Director, Counselor Liaison at Texas A&M University is responsible for developing and managing recruitment strategies aimed at enhancing relationships with high school counselors and community organizations. This role involves coordinating regional programs, supervising staff, and serving as a resource for senior leadership while focusing on increasing the enrollment of high-achieving students.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies for high school counselors and community organizations.
  • Coordinate and implement regional programs and events to enhance counselor relations.
  • Identify and recruit high-achieving students to increase enrollment.
  • Supervise regional recruitment staff and provide training and mentorship.
  • Serve as a resource for senior leadership in the Undergraduate Recruitment office.
  • Manage recruitment and financial aid awareness programs.
  • Conduct presentations and establish community contacts for recruitment activities.
  • Collaborate with university departments and external organizations for recruitment efforts.
  • Track and manage prospective students and resolve admissions issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in admissions, recruitment, advising, financial aid, or outreach.
  • Knowledge of financial aid programs and federal regulations relating to student financial aid.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work well with counselors, students, and parents.

Nice-to-haves

  • A State of Texas class 'C' vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Master's degree.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Professional experience in higher education, particularly within TAMUS.
  • Customer service experience in higher education.
  • Experience in producing reports of analysis and evaluation of activities.
