About The Position

The Department of Counseling Psychology, Social Psychology and Counseling seeks a highly qualified applicant with a doctorate in counseling psychology to contribute to clinical training in the APA accredited doctoral program in counseling psychology and master’s program in clinical mental health counseling, accredited by the Masters in Psychology and Counseling Accreditation Council. Duties include administrative duties, clinical supervision/instruction, and teaching within the Counseling Practicum Clinic (CPC) in the Department of Counseling Psychology, Social Psychology & Counseling (CPSY). This is a full-time 12-month professional position. Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Counseling Psychology
  • At least one year post degree clinical experience
  • Eligible to be licensed as a Psychologist with a Health Service Provider designation in Indiana

Responsibilities

  • Development/oversight/implementation of CPC policies/procedures in collaboration with clinic director
  • With clinic director, maintain all standards related to relevant accrediting bodies.
  • Assure the provision of counseling and psychological services in a manner consistent with accepted professional and ethical standards and state law
  • Responsible for investigating and applying for grants/funding/revenue generating initiatives for the CPC
  • Collaborate with clinic director in generating/managing/implementing funding opportunities
  • Oversee CPC research initiatives (currently inactive, but opportunities for growth)
  • Individual and group supervision of master’s and doctoral students in the CPC
  • Organization, supervision, and management of graduate students’ engagement in group opportunities, both within the CPC and the broader community
  • Clinical instruction of students enrolled in CPSY courses but also part of clinical faculty duties, regardless of active course instruction
  • Contribute to “on-call” clinical consultation/supervision duties (no after-hours on-call responsibilities)
  • Potentially carry a small clinical caseload in the CPC, for teaching and training purposes (e.g., co-therapy; recorded sessions to be used for teaching purposes, etc.)
  • Oversee master’s internship in the CPC, including providing clinical supervision, conducting and selecting master’s interns, and managing internship experience
  • Teach 1- 2 courses per fall, spring, and summer semesters, as needed by the department chair.
  • Required course instruction for Master’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Pre-Practicum Course (offered summer and fall semesters.)
  • Oversee/coordinate clinical master's practicum sequencing.
  • Provide didactic trainings and facilitate new student and adjunct faculty orientations.
  • Participate as voting member in faculty meetings, maintain regular contact with CPSY department faculty to coordinate clinical training needs
  • Actively contribute to the intellectual and professional life of the Department, College of Health, Ball State University, and surrounding community through general service and preventive, developmental, and outreach orientation
  • Involvement in department committees related to clinical training and the CPC
  • Involvement in college/university committees related to the CPC and Interprofessional Community Clinics (ICC) in the BUS College of Health
  • Keep abreast of recent scholarly developments in areas of specialty and incorporate into teaching and clinical supervision
  • Professional service activities are encouraged
