Summary: Assists the Director of Corporate Finance in directing the corporate finance department's activities and resources to ensure alignment with the mission, values, and objectives of the department and Memorial Healthcare System.

Requirements

  • Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Requires the ability to process and analyze complex mathematical data.
  • Working knowledge of finance-related software.
  • Seven (7) years of progressive experience in accounting and finance OR a minimum of (5) years of experience in public accounting required.
  • Bachelors (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or in a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification and healthcare industry experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with planning and monitoring the staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, performance management, disciplinary actions, continuing education initiatives, and service level requirements.
  • Supervises and coaches a team of financial professionals with varying levels of experience, roles, and responsibilities.
  • Performs and supervises a significant volume of special projects, including all accounting, finance, and business operational needs.
  • Provides financial and business operations support to key departments and business operating units, including return on investment analyses, financial projections, ad hoc reporting, and various other needs.
  • Focuses on process improvement, identifying opportunities to streamline and enhance controls and processes and provides recommendations.
  • Leads the implementation of new accounting pronouncements, working with external auditors and various internal stakeholders; includes interpreting technical accounting guidance and managing the related financial reporting components.
  • Manages the external audit process, financial statement preparation, and various internal financial reporting needs.
  • Responsible for leading the month-end close process for key entities and significant components of the general ledger, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Governmental Accounting Standards.
  • Assists the Director of Corporate Finance with all month-end close and reporting responsibilities.
