NYU Langone Health is a world-class, patient-centered, integrated academic medical center, known for its excellence in clinical care, research, and education. It comprises more than 200 locations throughout the New York area, including five inpatient locations, a children's hospital, three emergency rooms, and a level 1 trauma center. Also part of NYU Langone Health is the Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center, and NYU Grossman School of Medicine, which since 1841 has trained thousands of physicians and scientists who have helped to shape the course of medical history. At NYU Langone Health, equity, diversity, and inclusion are fundamental values. We strive to be a place where our exceptionally talented faculty, staff, and students of all identities can thrive. We embrace diversity, inclusion, and individual skills, ideas, and knowledge. In this role as Assistant Director-Coding, the successful candidate will oversee coding operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) Department for NYU Langone Health. This includes guiding the efficient and effective process for coding, abstracting, and data reporting of inpatient, outpatient, emergency, ancillary, and oncology services. The Assistant Director will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the Coding Department, providing leadership for both internal and remote coding staff, and ensuring compliance with coding regulations and guidelines. The role also involves close collaboration with Patient Financial Services and other departments to resolve coding and charge capture issues, as well as managing the conversion of clinical documentation into data and reporting this information to various internal and external users. The Assistant Director will implement efficient workflows, develop and maintain coding and documentation quality programs, and ensure that coding practices meet state and federal requirements. This position requires staying abreast of the latest developments in coding and reimbursement, supervising staff productivity, and conducting performance appraisals. The successful candidate will also be responsible for training new employees, managing staff schedules, and ensuring adequate coverage in the coding section. Overall, this role is critical in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the coding operations within NYU Langone Health.
