About The Position

Attend meetings and respond to daily inquiries on behalf of the Director Budget & Financial Planning in his/her absence; research transactions, explain procedures to campus departmental personnel, answer general budget questions, etc. Prepare sections of the University's $400 million budget for the local Board of Trustees and the Tennessee Board of Regents. Prepare the University's annual appropriation request for the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. Provide complex analysis of university revenues and expenditures to aid the Director Budget and Financial Planning to make decisions regarding finances for the University. Create Access and Argos reports for internal department use and outside departments. Determine that the University Budget is in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. Communicate with other State Agencies regarding the Chairs of Excellence budgets and expenditures and perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
  • Five (5) years successful, progressively responsible, full time paid employment in a responsible accounting, auditing, or budgeting position required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in higher education accounting or budgeting preferred.
  • Working knowledge of a mainframe human resource system and financial system preferred.
  • CPA, MBA, or related graduate degree desired.
