Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring that all residents in the program receive quality care, and to ensure that all of their basic needs are consistently met within a safe, secure environment by trained professional staff, who reflect the mission of the Y. The Assistant Director is responsible to carry out all facility policies in a manner consistent with the Old Colony Y, and all State Regulatory agencies. In the absence of the Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for the overall administration of the program.

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Program, ensuring all program policies and procedures are properly and consistently implemented.
  • Develop and oversee the daily scheduling of all employees.
  • Review and follow up on all incident reports on a daily basis.
  • Ensure all problems and concerns relevant to the day-to-day operation of the program are immediately addressed or referred to the appropriate person.
  • Help facilitate all client admissions/discharges.
  • Serve as on-call administrator for the Program.
  • Facilitate and/or help facilitate all Supervisor and Staff Meetings.
  • Assist with medical, educational and clinical programming.
  • Monitor and assist with family engagement events or visits.
  • Assist with program development through grants, training and other networking opportunities.
  • Monitor the entire facility daily including all assigned rooms and furnishings in the residence.
  • Oversee the regular maintenance and upkeep of the Program and program vehicle.
  • Assure and maintain the highest level of safety and cleanliness of the program by reviewing daily environment checks and following up immediately on any maintenance or security issues.
  • Supervise all employees assigned at the Program.
  • Screen, train, evaluate and supervise the performance of personnel.
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring, training and supervision of all employees, in accordance with OCY personnel policies, DYS policies, EEC policies and procedures.
  • Complete all required reports within expected timeframes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • 3 – 5 years prior Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree Candidate in Human Services or related field preferred. Associate's Degree will be accepted.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft programs is required.
  • Excellent reading and writing skills for contract and incident reporting.
  • Valid Driver’s license, proof of insurance and vehicle.
  • Capable of consistently and successfully dealing with clients with severe emotional and behavioral problems.
  • Must have visual and auditory acuity in order to maintain security of the program.
  • Must be able to restrain up to 200 lbs with or without assistance.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, run and stand during the work shift.
  • Must be able to drive clients in the community as needed by the program.
