About The Position

The Dining Services Assistant Manager assists the Dining Services Manager in ensuring that residents' dining experiences in the public campus dining areas meet our exceptional standards of service. The Assistant Manager ensures Dining Servers are well trained and staffing levels and logistical issues are sufficient. This role also handles special events, and manages the catering function.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Hospitality or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years previous supervisory experience required.
  • A minimum of 3 years related to Fine Dining, experience in a continuous care retirement community, hospital, or similar facility preferred.
  • Must possess a customer service background and orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead the day-to-day operations of one public campus dining area (either café or Main Dining Room) for evening service.
  • Provide complete coverage for both public campus dining areas in absence of Manager, Dining Services.
  • Assist in planning, set up, staffing and execution of all catering events.
  • Train all new Dining Servers in public dining areas.
  • Develop schedules on bi-weekly basis for public campus dining areas, and submit for review to Manager, Dining Services.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with all local, state, federal and facility rules and regulations.
  • Resolve any issues regarding resident billing, and communicate resolution to Manager, Dining Services and residents involved.
  • Assist in establishing delivery methods, logistics and standards.
  • Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orientating, engaging and training associates.
  • Create and maintain an effective associate experience so that departmental goals and objectives are established and clearly communicated.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new associate onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
  • Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.
  • Lead associates using a performance management and development process.
  • Provide effective performance feedback through associate recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and compliant work environment.
  • Plan and allocate resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work to meet departmental productivity and quality goals.
  • Manage the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the department.
  • Maintain quality service and enforce quality and customer service standards.
  • Analyze and resolve quality and customer service problems.
  • Communicate regularly with other members of leadership team as well as other designated contacts within the organization.
