Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on providing fast, friendly service.
  • Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation ideas.
  • Answer incoming calls professionally; resolve customer concerns and escalate to the Store Director as needed.
  • Use suggestive selling techniques through phone, intercom, and direct customer interactions.
  • Demonstrate full working knowledge of duties performed by all department employees and assist with preparation, cooking, and serving of food items.
  • Prepare sandwiches, salads, pizzas, hot and cold foods, and party trays according to company standards.
  • Implement proper product preparation, packaging, and handling techniques.
  • Operate all relevant equipment including kitchen utensils, fryers, ovens, slicers, grills, food processors, wrappers, scales, printers, and pallet jacks.
  • Ensure deli case cleanliness, visual appeal, and appropriate inventory levels.
  • Maintain sanitation and ensure a clean, safe work environment.
  • Ensure temperatures are properly maintained during all phases of preparation, display, and storage.
  • Assist with scheduling, supervising, training, and assigning duties to department employees.
  • Create schedules to ensure adequate staffing levels and service coverage.
  • Assist with planning daily operations and monitoring production processes following company standards and profitability expectations.
  • Train employees on in‑store policies, sales procedures, and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Identify and help develop high‑potential employees for advancement opportunities.
  • Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, freshness, and quality; maintain inventory levels per division guidelines.
  • Stock, rotate, and organize all product; maintain orderly coolers and storage areas.
  • Build displays, rotate product, and remove outdated or spoiled items.
  • Ensure proper code‑dating procedures are followed for all products.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • When applicable, oversee the operation and maintenance of the salad bar, wing bar, and burger bar.
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders against invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, and stocking product.
  • Adhere to temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines during receiving and processing.
  • Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.
  • Assist with preparing sales and inventory reports and participate in physical inventory every four weeks.
  • Apply a working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain department standards for handling quick‑sale items.
  • Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards are upheld across the department.
