Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness, emphasizing fast, friendly, and efficient service.
  • Assist customers with product recommendations, special orders, and food preparation suggestions.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls professionally and appropriately.
  • Receive and resolve customer complaints; escalate concerns to the Store Director as needed.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and additional sales techniques through phone interaction, in‑store announcements, and one‑on-one customer engagement.
  • Possess working knowledge of duties performed by all department employees and assist with preparation, cooking, and serving of food items.
  • Implement proper and efficient food preparation and packaging techniques according to company standards.
  • Operate kitchen and department equipment, including utensils, fryers, conventional and microwave ovens, pizza ovens, slicers, grills, food processors, wrappers, scales, printers, and pallet jacks.
  • Prepare sandwiches, salads, pizzas, hot and cold foods, and party trays in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness, visual appeal, and appropriate inventory levels in the deli case.
  • Ensure the deli area, backroom, and all equipment remain clean, sanitized, and in adherence with safety standards.
  • Ensure all product temperature requirements are consistently met throughout preparation, display, and storage.
  • Assist with scheduling, supervising, training, and assigning duties to department employees.
  • Develop daily operational plans and monitor production processes to ensure compliance with company procedures and profitability targets.
  • Assist in preparing sales and inventory reports and contribute to physical inventory counts every four weeks.
  • Identify and train employees with high potential for advancement and ensure all employees are trained in store policies, sales procedures, and recordkeeping.
  • Control inventory to ensure proper quantity, quality, and freshness according to division directives.
  • Stock shelves, rotate products, and maintain an organized cooler and storage area.
  • Build displays, rotate merchandise, and remove outdated or spoiled product.
  • Ensure proper code dating for all products within the department.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Where applicable, operate and maintain service bars such as salad bars, wing bars, and burger bars.
  • Perform receiving duties, including breaking down loads, verifying invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, and stocking/rotating inventory.
  • Adhere to product temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines.
  • Complete required administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Perform all job duties with honesty, integrity, and in compliance with company standards.
