About The Position

Cornell University welcomes candidates for the position of Assistant Dean, Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science (Cornell Bowers) in our Alumni Affairs and Development division, based in Ithaca, NY. This role presents an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the university's advancement efforts. About Cornell Bowers Cornell’s journey in computing began with the formation of its Department of Computer Science in 1965, which awarded its first Ph.D. a year later. Over time, its scope broadened: in 1999 the university established the Faculty of Computing and Information Science (CIS) to unify computing, information, and related disciplines. Key expansions included the incorporation of Statistical Sciences in 2005, and later the establishment of an independent Information Science department, as well as the launch of Statistics and Data Science. With the opening of Gates Hall in 2014 and achievements at Cornell Tech, the college continued to grow in visibility and impact. In 2020, a major gift from Ann S. Bowers ’59 transformed the faculty into a fully named college—Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science.
