The Living Desert Zoo & Gardens (TLD) is seeking a qualified candidate to join our Animal Care Leadership Team as an Assistant Animal Care Curator. This is a newly created key, visible leadership position that requires a motivated, dedicated team player who is willing to make a significant commitment to the organization. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with strong organizational, decision-making and task management skills who can demonstrate the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff in a consistently changing environment. The Assistant Animal Care Curator is part of the management team and is a salaried, exempt position. The Animal Care team is expected to support the Zoo in its mission 'to support desert conservation through preservation, education and appreciation.' The Assistant Animal Care Curator will help the Zoo achieve a forward-thinking vision of a modern zoo and inclusive culture. This leader must have the ability to make good decisions regarding the well-being of the animals, staff and guests while working for the greater good of the zoo. This individual must be a cooperative and collaborative team member with a great guest service attitude. The successful candidate will be organized, detail oriented and able to work in a constantly changing atmosphere. Assistant Animal Care Curators must demonstrate significant knowledge of husbandry practices, be able to lead and mentor staff in the performances of these practices, demonstrate strong leadership skills which include being a role model and an example to others while working towards an improved future and shared vision within TLD and the Animal Care team.
