The Assistant Curator of Birds and Mammals at Landry's Aquarium Downtown Houston will work closely with the Veterinarian and Animal Husbandry Manager to ensure the best possible health and well-being of the animal collection. This role involves collaborating with the Animal Husbandry Manager and staff to determine the needs of the exhibits and staff, planning and implementing long and short-term goals for the area. The Assistant Curator will also be responsible for acquiring and disposing of collection specimens in accordance with the Acquisition/Disposition Policy, coordinating the permitting processes for specimen acquisition/disposition, and overseeing all related permit requirements. Additionally, the position includes developing and administering area budgets, providing advice on technical and design aspects of long-range development that incorporates bird and mammal life, overseeing safety within the area, and reviewing, developing, and enforcing department policies and procedures.
