Opportunity: We are currently seeking a Temporary Assistant Cross Country & Track Coach who will be responsible to the Head Cross Country & Track Coach, as well as to the Director of Athletics, for helping to manage and develop the intercollegiate Cross Country and Track program at Covenant College.

Requirements

  • An acceptance of and commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Experience in coaching track and/or cross country
  • A commitment to adhering to all policies, rules, and regulations of Covenant College, the Collegiate Conference of the South, and the NCAA Division III.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other administrators, coaches, students, and faculty members.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Acceptance of and commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, demonstrated in personal life and conduct.
  • A strong understanding of and commitment to Scripture, the Westminster Standards, the doctrinal standards of the PCA, and the mission of Covenant College as a Christian liberal arts college.
  • An understanding of the mission and purpose of Covenant College
  • Ability to assent to Covenant's Statement of Community Beliefs and Covenant College's Staff Commitments

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree
  • Experience coaching track and/or cross country at the collegiate level.
  • Experience coaching in multi-track events

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting with the management and development of the intercollegiate track and cross country program, including:
  • Discipleship of men and women in the program to facilitate spiritual growth
  • Teaching and modeling the value of Christian competition
  • Monitoring the academic performance of student athletes and partnering with Student Development for discipleship, development, and retention of student athletes
  • Recruiting and retaining quality student athletes who understand and embrace Covenant College's mission and vision
  • Find student athletes who are equipped with the ability to achieve academic and athletic success
  • Working in conjunction with the head coach to fill a roster of 40 student-athletes
  • Regularly fielding a highly competitive team within the conference
  • On-field coaching, instruction, and training preparation, preferably with a focus on the sprints, jumps, and/or throws
  • Opponent scouting
  • Coordination of all social media accounts for the Covenant Track & XC program
  • Contributing and caring for the development and growth of the athletic department as a whole in tangible ways
  • Creating service and mission opportunities for student athletes to invest in the community
  • Effective stewardship of resources in the program
  • Approaching every facet of this position with a high degree of professionalism
  • Responsible for an administrative role within the Athletic Department. This position will be assigned by the Director of Athletics at the beginning of each academic year once all primary staff positions have been determined. Examples of possible roles include, but are not limited to: game day management, intramurals, sports information, sport ministry, or student employee oversight
