About The Position

The New York City Law Department's Tax and Bankruptcy Litigation Division is seeking applications from admitted attorneys three to five years out of law school. The Division represents the City in real property tax assessment challenges, commercial tax challenges, eminent domain matters and bankruptcy proceedings. The division also has a robust appellate practice. In addition, the division handles New York City real property transactions and counsels City agencies on tax, bankruptcy, and real estate matters. The breadth of our practice affords our attorneys unique challenges in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Admitted to the New York State bar.
  • 3 to 5 years of litigation experience.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills.
  • Organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the City in real property tax assessment challenges.
  • Handle commercial tax challenges and eminent domain matters.
  • Participate in bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Engage in appellate practice.
  • Manage New York City real property transactions.
  • Counsel City agencies on tax, bankruptcy, and real estate matters.
