Position Overview As the Assistant Corporate Controller, you play a critical role in supporting the Corporate Controller and the broader finance organization across a multi-entity national structure. You help maintain accurate financial reporting, ensure disciplined accounting practices, support system improvements, and partner with internal teams to elevate financial operations. You bring the ownership and discipline required to meet financial deadlines, which may occasionally require effort beyond traditional business hours during close cycles or time-sensitive initiatives. This role is ideal for a detail-driven, growth-oriented professional with strong GAAP knowledge, multi-entity accounting experience, and the ability to collaborate across departments while maintaining a high standard of integrity, accuracy, and follow-through. You support financial accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across multiple entities by managing core accounting functions, leading key components of the month-end close, driving documentation quality, and coordinating with both internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Four or more years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience with Sage Intacct, Sage 100, or Sage 300
  • Experience with job costing and percent-of-completion accounting
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and multi-entity accounting
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and formulas
  • Ability to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally
  • High attention to detail accuracy and follow-through

Responsibilities

  • Perform full cycle accounting including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and general ledger accuracy
  • Prepare and maintain reconciliations for balance sheet accounts including PPE, prepaids, AR/AP, payroll, benefits, debt, and inter-company balances
  • Support month-end close ensuring timely and accurate reporting across all entities
  • Maintain recurring and adjusting journal entries and ensure proper documentation
  • Assist with financial statement preparation and support internal and external audit requirements
  • Support job costing and percent-of-completion accounting processes
  • Review variances and communicate findings to internal business partners
  • Help maintain compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements
  • Ensure accurate inter-company activity and support eliminations as required
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes controls and system efficiency
  • Provide oversight and backup support for AP and AR functions
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and support PPE reconciliation
  • Support business license renewals and compliance coordination with Regional Finance teams
  • Assist with subcontract agreements, lien waivers, and job cost analysis as needed
