As an assistant coordinator of deaf services, you will provide interpreting and CART services for the SCAD community in classrooms and at university events. You will maintain and track loaned equipment (including VRI kits and microphones), attend department meetings, and participate in after-hours on-call needs. Responsibilities include the dissemination and collection of student surveys, interpreter file management, and communications with instructors, students, and interpreters. Among other duties, you will regularly meet with the coordinator of deaf services, complete individual goals according to schedule, and gather interpreter and student availability each quarter. You will also stay informed about access for deaf and hard of hearing (HoH) community members. In this role, you will consult with various departments as needed to provide support. Likewise, you will determine academic adjustments and reasonable accommodations based on student documentation and Section 504/ADA guidelines. Responsibilities include maintenance of an active caseload, participation in location-wide efforts to improve diversity and inclusion, and the prompt documentation of student contact.
