JOB DESCRIPTION The Assistant Cook will perform their responsibilities under the direction of the Head Cook which will include the overall operations of the kitchen including preparing, cooking, and serving meals to older adults. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Major Duties and Responsibilities Under the direction of Head Cook coordinates the preparation and service of food to older adults following DFTA nutrition guidelines and Department of Health Regulations. Provide approximately 30-40 meals for breakfast or 60-70 meals for lunch a day depending on which menu you have. Assures the meals maintain high quality and are delivered on time. Monitors and maintains the inventory of food and supplies and presents with the Head Cook weekly and monthly updates to the Director of Older Adult Center. Working with the Head Cook order food and supplies in sufficient quantities for weekly meals and monitors deliveries received. Assists in daily clean-up of the kitchen including cupboard, shelves, work surface, and cooking equipment daily and follow weekly and monthly cleaning schedule. In the absence of the Head Cook completes daily cleaning responsibilities and completes and submits cleaning log to OAC Director. Maintain Qualified Food Protection Certification. Assure and maintain adherence to DOH and DFTA sanitation standards. Help to maintains records related to meals served, inventory, food temperatures, and daily food cost. Lifts and carries food provisions. Arranges and directs the appropriate storage and safety standards of food and supplies; Works well with all staff and support the vision and focus of the agency. Actively participate in in-service trainings In the absence of the Head Cook, assume responsibility for cooking and serving meals following DFTA nutrition guidelines and Department of Health regulations.
