The Assistant Cook will be responsible for general cooking and food preparation as directed by the Supervisor and/or Unit Manager. The role requires knowledge of all stations, as the Assistant Cook will rotate through them. Responsibilities include assisting the Supervisor in various areas, following standardized recipes and established procedures to maintain high standards of quality control, and assisting in the training of students assigned to the unit. The Assistant Cook will also be responsible for cleaning equipment used in food preparation and maintaining sanitation, safety, and cleanliness standards at all times. A strong emphasis is placed on customer service and maintaining good working relationships among employees. The position requires attendance at a food service sanitation course and the ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds. The Assistant Cook may also be called upon to perform other related tasks not included in this description.
