About The Position

LAUNCH is a leading aviation services company headquartered in Oak Brook, IL that is searching for an Assistant Controller. As a key member of the finance team, the Assistant Controller reports to the Controller and is responsible for the day-to-day accounting activities, the month-end close process, and the preparation of financial statements. The Controller will lead and direct all accounting department personnel while also being hands-on with key accounting processes. The Assistant Controller will assist the Controller with higher level special projects.

Requirements

  • Experience supervising, developing, and mentoring multiple people
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization

  • Detail-oriented and committed to 100% accuracy of all information
  • Strong IT skills including an understanding of ERP systems; experience with IT systems upgrades or implementations is a plus

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • 10 years in an accounting role
  • 5 years management experience
  • Advanced level Microsoft excel
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel, PowerPoint)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with operational accounting in a professional service, legal, or consulting company preferred
  • Experience in a rapid growth environment preferred
  • Experience in a high transactional volume business is a plus
  • Public accounting experience preferred with Big 4 experience a plus
  • CPA preferred

Responsibilities

  • Primary owner of all general ledger accounts for multiple divisions; review and approve entries made by direct reports and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations
  • Lead the month-end close process for all entities in a timely and accurate manner in conformity with GAAP
  • Oversee credit checks for potential customers
  • Ensure that appropriate internal controls are established, documented, and followed related to cash, accounts receivable, fixed assets, accounts payable, accrued expenses, and capital accounts
  • Manage and improve all financial reporting; identify opportunities and implement solutions to improve processes through automation, standardization, etc.
  • Supervise and mentor all accounting department staff; foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement; determine staffing requirement needed to support the company’s business plans
  • Monitor and analyze all department work to develop more efficient procedures and uses of personnel while maintaining the highest levels of accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare monthly financial statements (income statement, balance sheet and cash flows) including flux analysis
  • Analyze debt agreements to understand terms and conditions as well as covenant compliance
  • Understand lease accounting (ASC 842)
  • Assist Controller with accounting research/technical accounting transactions
  • Oversee revenue recognition and subscription-based accounting principles of the Digital Marketplace segments
  • Other duties as assigned.
