About The Position

The Assistant Controller is the right hand of the Corporate Controller and is integral to the management of the month end close process. The role requires someone detail-oriented who can think outside the box to find ways to improve our accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting. BlackHawk is a dynamic enterprise with ambitious acquisition and growth goals.

Requirements

  • Extremely high standard of personal ethics and integrity
  • Experience with complex ERP systems is required
  • Excellent problem solving and diagnostic skills
  • Strong soft skills including people management and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance required
  • 5-10 years of experience in an accounting role with escalating responsibility

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in related field a plus
  • Certified Public Accountant highly desired
  • CPA preferred

Responsibilities

  • Personally exhibits, recruits and coaches associates consistent with Core Behaviors
  • Responsible for promoting culture of safety
  • Assists Corporate Controller in the management of the month end close process from start to finish
  • Full general ledger responsibility in accordance with US GAAP
  • Perform review of monthly reconciliations prepared by the accounting team
  • Manage a team of 4-6 team members with a focus on ensuring each achieves their goals while also driving continued process improvement for the department
  • Work directly with external auditors & tax preparers to ensure that all audit and tax filing deadlines are met
  • Coordinate periodically with international accounting staff to ensure consistent accounting methodology across the enterprise
  • Develops skills with the Company’s ERP system (EPICOR P21) to support various aspects of the business
  • Assist the Corporate Controller in the integration and purchase accounting for acquisitions completed by the business
  • Periodic implementation of new systems for purposes of driving increased efficiency and nimbleness in the accounting department
