About The Position

The Assistant Controller will play a critical role in supporting the financial operations of the company, managing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and collaboration with the finance team to support the company's growth objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting with heavy reconciliation experience.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP systems) and heavy Excel experience.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records.
  • Conduct variance analysis and report on financial performance against budget.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger.
  • Assist in preparing month-end close entries, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Support year-end audit processes, including liaising with external auditors.
  • Prepare and file quarterly and annual tax filings and other regulatory reports.
  • Assist in Accounts Payable, establishing vendor terms, making on-time payments, statement reconciliation, 1099 processing, etc.
  • Assist in Accounts Receivable, working with the GM's on establishing credit with new construction customers, managing AR aging reports collections processing, manage the monthly pay applications per division, etc.
  • Support team with questions.
  • Work closely with the Controller, CFO, and other departments to ensure financial accuracy and support business decision-making.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior accounting staff, as needed.
  • Assist with special projects, including system implementations and process optimizations.
