About The Position

As an Assistant Control Room Operator for our power plant, you will be responsible for the daily operation of the air pollution control (APC) systems and components, turbine generator and associated equipment, boiler feed pumps, condensate pumps, make-up pumps, dump condenser and associated equipment, turbine lube and control oil systems, electrical distribution systems, including breakers, transformers, disconnect switches, inverter, storage batteries, etc., waste water system, treated water system and cooling towers to assure that the facility meets its operational, environmental, and safety commitments while operating in a safe and environmentally efficient manner.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have taken the municipal waste combustion course within a year upon hire.
• Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts.

• Must be able to pass respiratory fit testing.
• Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Assisting as needed in the daily operation of the Control Room.
• Performing inspections, making effective rounds and taking appropriate action to maintain APC systems within prescribed limits.
• Performing daily routine inspections of assigned equipment and troubleshooting on equipment and reporting all malfunctioning equipment through the issuance of work orders.
• Performing lockout and tag-out of equipment in support of maintenance activities.
• Providing guidance to Crane, Auxiliary, and Back Plant Operators to maintain a safe and efficient operation.
• Effectively monitoring Reworld operations systems and having strong working knowledge of boiler, turbine, and auxiliary equipment operations.
• Managing critical events and prioritizing tasks for completion at times during emergency, providing clear directions in operational, safety and environmental tasks.
• Responding to operational alarms, taking immediate corrective action.
• Demonstrating solid understanding of operational best practices, including the ability to problem solve and make sound decisions that supports Reworld safety and operational goals.
