About The Position

This position is offered as a hybrid role in the Seattle, WA area. You must be willing to work in office at the Nordstrom Seattle office a minimum of 4 days/week in order to be considered for this position. As the Assistant Designer, Concept, you will assist Nordstrom Product Group (NPG) Design partners in the development of Brand Concepts for multiple Nordstrom Made Brands to align with each brand's DNA. Your pulse on fashion, culture, social media and trends gives you understanding of how product design and market analysis evolves retail strategies. In this role, you will author compelling and actionable product narratives that inform design development and move the business forward. From curating strategic color palettes by brand to guiding the section of materials, this role has high impact and high visibility. A day in the life… Research into seasonal product trends across color, print, fabric and silo. Assist the Sr Concept Designer in curating seasonal color palettes, from Pantone section to board creation. Shop the market locally to keep an ongoing pulse on benchmark competitors and market leaders. Prepare for key milestones, creating seasonal boards and presentations Monitor timelines for deliverables and scheduling review sessions Assist Design Director with buy meeting preparation Plan, facilitate and/or execute assigned design projects Collaborate with design team and cross-divisional partners to provide insights, inform deliverables and support design

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Fashion Design, Textiles or a related field
  • 1+ year of relevant experience with design and conceptual skills
  • Strong knowledge of textiles, artwork techniques & fabric.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team
  • Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Miro, MS Office suite, and ability to hand-sketch.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new technology and systems
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills
