The Assistant Coach, Women's Rowing is responsible for assisting the Head Women's Rowing Coach in the administration and teaching of the women's rowing program at the University of Pennsylvania. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including extensive administrative duties, recruiting, teaching, advising student-athletes, and handling non-coaching related tasks. The Assistant Coach will coach and teach sport-specific skills and strategies to current student-athletes during practices and competitions, ensuring that athletes are well-prepared for their events. This includes educating team members on proper training techniques and exercises tailored to their specific needs, as well as preparing and executing practice and competition plans. The Assistant Coach will provide instruction and advice before, during, and after competitions in both group and individual settings. In addition to coaching responsibilities, the Assistant Coach will play a crucial role in recruiting national caliber athletes for enrollment at the University. This involves utilizing various communication methods such as mail, phone, social media, and in-person contact to identify and vet prospects who demonstrate strong character, academic ability, and athletic skill. The Assistant Coach will evaluate recruits at domestic and international practices and competitions, organize and coordinate official and unofficial visits, and communicate with athletic liaisons and financial aid to ensure top prospects meet academic viability requirements. The Assistant Coach will also collaborate effectively with staff members across various departments, including compliance, student development, external operations, and athletic development. Adherence to all NCAA, Ivy League, University, and divisional rules and policies is essential. The role includes assisting in organizing team and coach travel, compliance paperwork, and other administrative responsibilities. Furthermore, the Assistant Coach will serve as a role model and adviser for student-athletes, connecting them to necessary resources within and outside of Penn Athletics. Building strong relationships with alumni, fans, campus partners, and the broader community is also a key aspect of this position. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
