About The Position

The University of Virginia is a highly competition Division 1 program committed to academic and athletic excellence. The Athletic Department at the University of Virginia is seeking an energetic and relationship-driven Assistant Volleyball Coach to join our program. This position requires demonstrated competence in recruiting and/or offensive, setter training, along with a strong commitment to fostering a positive, growth-oriented experience for our student-athletes. The ideal candidate is passionate about player development, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is dedicated to investing in both the competitive success and personal well-being of our team and staff. The Assistant Volleyball Coach is responsible for contributing to the successful execution of objectives as defined by the Head Coach. This position will participate in the planning, design, implementation, management, and completion of an effective team strategy. They analyze, coach, instruct, recruit, retain, and advise current and prospective student athletes. Work is self-guided but performed under the supervision of the Head Coach. The Assistant Volleyball Coach will be responsible for duties including, but not limited to: Assist with the administration, coaching and recruiting of a Division I program in compliance with NCAA and ACC rules and regulations. Recruiting Coordinator - lead and coordinate all aspects of recruiting, including, but not limited to: in-person and off-Grounds recruiting opportunities evaluate and identify recruiting targets and commitments maintain recruit databases develop and execute year-long recruitment brand communication strategy communicate admissions status with prospective student-athlete athletes Assist in all on-court training and practice sessions with specific position responsibilities based on strengths of individual and staff needs. Assist in scouting and in-game adjustments. Specific responsibilities will be based on experience and needs within the staff. Assist with camp. This position includes a considerable amount of travel. Other duties as assigned. The selected candidate will pass a background check. This position will not sponsor applications for immigration now or in the future. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Some experience coaching volleyball at the intercollegiate and/or professional level.
  • Strong commitment to NCAA, ACC, and institutional rules compliance
  • Positive and high energy level with the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, working quickly and completing tasks effectively
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Problem-solving focus
  • Strong leadership skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree
  • Three to five years of Division 1 volleyball coaching experience.
  • Experience as recruiting coordinator.
