About The Position

In accordance with the mission of the Department of Athletics, the Assistant Volleyball Coach will assist in administering the progress and success of the intercollegiate women's volleyball program within the guidelines of the NCAA, the BIG EAST Conference, and DePaul University. This includes all pre-season, in-season and post-season activities necessary to the development of a nationally competitive team. Successful candidates share a commitment to celebrating the diverse cultures, backgrounds and experiences of the DePaul Athletics' community both on and off the field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1-3 years coaching experience, preferably at the NCAA Division I level
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Annual NCAA Recruiting certification required
  • Ability to handle the physical demands of training volleyball student-athletes
  • Proven volleyball playing experience
  • Demonstrated experience in working in a diverse urban and/or intercollegiate athletics environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs
  • Knowledge and practice related to relevant video and statistical analysis software
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Dedication to serving the department, the University and the student-athletes with the highest level of leadership, initiative, and integrity
  • Working knowledge of NCAA, BIG EAST Conference, and University rules and regulations as they apply to intercollegiate athletics
  • Position requires working evening, weekend, and holiday hours during academic year
  • Travel during recruiting and with team during season

Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating the evaluation, recruitment, preparation, and development of all student-athletes.
  • Identify, contact, and recruit prospective student-athletes by phone, mail, and other forms of correspondence.
  • Travel to various locations throughout Chicago and across the country to meet and evaluate prospective student-athletes in person.
  • Plan practice sessions, conduct video analysis of performance, provide feedback, and encourage positive performance.
  • Operate yearly volleyball camps and clinics on campus and coordinate all team travel.
  • Assist in alumni outreach events and all other events related to growing the DePaul Athletics brand.
  • Drive the coordination of messaging and branding on DePaul Volleyball social media outlets in accordance with university and departmental guidelines.
  • Adhere to all NCAA rules, policies, and procedures pertaining to women's volleyball.
  • Supervise 1 to 2 student managers including scheduling, training, evaluation, and payroll.
