About The Position

The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting in the direction of all phases of a nationally competitive program in accordance with Barry University, the Sunshine State Conference, and NCAA DII regulations. Specifically, duties include recruiting, handling video exchange, and individual instruction/player improvement, coordinating community involvement, completing/submitting administrative and compliance documents, and other duties assigned by the head coach.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in any discipline is required.
  • 1-3 years of coaching experience.
  • Must be comfortable with executing paperwork for projects.
  • Entry-level skills of office experience.
  • Adept at written and oral communication skills
  • A valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes, supervises, and coordinates practice sessions.
  • Establishes and maintains an organized recruiting system.
  • Recruits academically qualified student-athletes who form a competitive squad and meet established academic goals and objectives of the department of intercollegiate athletics.
  • Participates in community service activities
  • Maintains adequate records, interacts with Compliance Coordinator and Faculty Athletic Representative on all matters pertaining to eligibility.
  • Plans for transportation, lodging, and meals for the team.
  • Stay abreast of modern techniques, trends, and strategies.
  • Manages the fiscal affairs of his/her budget and develops a fundraising effort for his/her sport.
  • Responsible for student data, including admissions, financial aid, registration, and academic performance data. All such data is treated as confidential in accordance with federal, state, and university regulations.
