The assistant coach is responsible for selected aspects of the track & field program including coaching, recruitment, retention and the academic success of student-athletes. This role involves demonstrating knowledge of Track & Field through excellence in coaching. In consultation with the Head Track & Field Coach, the assistant coach will supervise a graduate assistant, market and promote the sport program, participate in all athletic department major fundraising efforts, and assist with the development and implementation of Game Environment and Community Engagement initiatives. The position requires adherence to and documentation of compliance with the policies and regulations of the University, Department of Athletics, Mountain East Conference and the NCAA, including the orientation of student-athletes to these guidelines. Other duties include overseeing the conduct and discipline of student-athletes, planning and implementing selected practices and events, assisting with annual recruitment goals, and coordinating pre-season and post-season conditioning with the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. Professional conduct and situation-appropriate professional attire are required at all times, along with abiding by all compliance and regulatory expectations of the department, NCAA Division II & Mountain East Conference bylaws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Title IX Regulations.
