About The Position

The Assistant Softball Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of operating a competitive collegiate softball program. Responsibilities include assisting with practice planning, skill development, recruiting, academic monitoring, game preparation, and administrative duties. The Assistant Coach is expected to promote a positive team culture and ensure full compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred)
  • Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of softball fundamentals, strategy, and player development
  • Demonstrated recruiting ability preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience recruiting at the collegiate level
  • Familiarity with NCAA rules and compliance procedures
  • Experience with video analysis and performance software
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Assist in organizing and conducting practices, workouts, and conditioning sessions
  • Provide position-specific instruction (pitching, hitting, fielding, baserunning, etc.)
  • Support game preparation, scouting reports, and in-game coaching
  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes
  • Assist with organizing official and unofficial campus visits
  • Monitor academic progress and promote academic success among student-athletes
  • Support team travel arrangements, scheduling, and equipment management
  • Assist with camps, clinics, and fundraising initiatives
  • Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Administration
