About The Position

Muhlenberg College, a Division III institution and a member of the Centennial Conference is seeking applications for a part-time Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach. Responsibilities include assisting the head coach in all phases of the lacrosse program within the college, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations; including evaluating, identifying, and recruiting prospective student-athletes; and planning and implementing strategies into daily practices. This part-time position includes College-provided housing with a private bedroom in a shared athletics house plus a meal-stipend of $800 per semester of "Berg Bucks" dining credit, for use at on-campus dining facilities while the College is in session. This part-time position is budgeted for 560 hours per year. The successful candidate will also have the option to earn additional income by providing part-time management and support of home athletic contests, the Life Sports Center, and the athletic equipment room.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Related professional experience, or a combination of professional and athletic experience leading to a similar qualification required.
  • Ability to motivate, counsel, and support student-athletes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and engage with a varied audience, including but not limited to students, parents, College employees, alumni, and community relations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III philosophy of athletics and adherence to NCAA regulations regarding operation of athletic programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive academic and professional environment where all members of our campus community are respected, valued, can succeed, and thrive.
  • Ability to travel and adapt to varying schedules, including evening and weekend hours, in accordance with the needs of the team.
  • Successful completion of satisfactory background checks including but not limited to education verification, criminal background checks, child abuse clearance, and driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Administer a competitive NCAA Division III program in accordance with college, NCAA, and Centennial Conference policies.
  • Develop and deliver practices, training sessions, team meetings, and contests (home and away).
  • Assist in film individual and team film analysis including practice film, game film, and opponent scouting reports.
  • Coach, motivate, counsel, and support student-athletes in realizing their potential for personal growth and development as students, athletes, and members of the Muhlenberg campus community.
  • Promote strong parent, alumni, and community relations.
  • Lead and participate in Divisional and College-wide committees and initiatives.
  • Actively participate in fundraising activities in support of the College and Muhlenberg Athletics.
  • Under the general direction of the head coach, provide leadership and support to all facets of the program in advancing the mission of the College and Athletics department.
  • Attend meetings and training as required by the head coach, Athletics department, and College.
  • Establish and meet annual recruitment goals, working with the head coach and Assistant Director of Athletics for Recruitment and Retention to ensure long-term recruiting goals are being achieved.
  • Maintain recruiting software, monitor the various recruiting services, and analyze national recruiting trends and research/review each area to support recruiting goals.
  • Oversee on-campus recruiting, including correspondence and meeting with recruits.
  • Participate in off-campus recruiting, including showcases and camps on a year-round basis.
