About The Position

Assistant Coach for Men’s Beach Volleyball reports to the Volleyball Director. The Men’s Beach Volleyball Assistant is responsible for assisting in the direction of a nationally competitive beach volleyball program in accordance with Barry University, the Sunshine State Conference, and NCAA DII regulations. Responsible for supporting the Director by providing individual instruction and teaching beach volleyball. Under the supervision of the Director, provides leadership and direction to the men’s beach volleyball program, and coordinates recruitment of players. Coordinates community involvement, completing and submitting administrative compliance documents, and other duties assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 1-3 years of previous experience.
  • Advanced analytical and process management skills required.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills required.

  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes, supervises, and conducts teaching sessions: Assists the Volleyball Director with instructing/ teaching student-athletes in the rules, regulations, and techniques of men’s beach volleyball. Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the Director. Assists the director with supervising student-athletes during practices and competitions. Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury. Teaches assigned fundamentals and skills during practice and games. Assesses player’s skills and keeps the director informed of the athletic performance of students. Models professional behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators. Become proficient in data analytics, AWRE cameras, and any additional technology used for the men’s beach volleyball program.
  • Establishes and maintains an organized recruiting system: Recruits academically qualified student-athletes who form a competitive squad and meet established academic goals and objectives of the department. Oversee recruitment of developmental/JV program. Participates in community service activities. Consults with the Associate AD/ SWA, Compliance, Student-Athlete Success, and FAR on matters of eligibility.
  • Performs administrative functions in support of the Intercollegiate Athletic program: Cooperates with the athletic administration in the implementation of department policies Assists in the direction of the program within the scope of the Intercollegiate Athletics Program Maintains a representative level of performance in the conference that satisfies departmental goals and objectives. Consults with the Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance concerning institutional, conference, and NCAA regulations that will directly affect the program Maintains adequate records. Assisting with the planning and executing travel logistics, including driving, for the men’s beach volleyball program Manages student data, including admissions, financial aid, registration and academic performance data. Data are treated as confidential in accordance with federal, state and university regulations. The Assistant Coach updates and maintains information on Compliance Assistant program, Salesforce, Workday, and Teamworks, etc. Assist with camps, clinics, tournaments, advancement projects/fundraising as needed.
