About The Position

To assist the football Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in providing technical and professional supervision of the preparation of student-athletes for an NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletic program through the utilization of scientifically based principles of athletic performance training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Must have a current CSCCa/SCCC or NSCA/CSCS certification.
  • Current CPR, First Aid and AED certification OR must complete this certification within the first 10 days of employment.
  • Two or more years of experience as a strength and conditioning coach.
  • Two or more years of experience designing strength programs.
  • Two or more years of experience with designing fitness programs.
  • Experience as a strength and conditioning coach in football.
  • Demonstrated experience following instructions and taking direction.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Five or more years of experience as a strength and conditioning coach.
  • Five or more years of experience designing strength programs.
  • Five or more years of experience with designing fitness programs.
  • Two or more years of experience as a strength and conditioning coach in football.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for promoting the health and safety of football student-athletes. Consults with and works collaboratively with athletic trainers, medical staff and applied sports scientist.
  • Assists with, and provides instruction to, student-athletes during their workout routines. Provide technical assistance and expertise for conditioning practice and teach proper techniques of various exercises and equipment. Assist in the design and implementation of year-round strength and conditioning programs for assigned sports teams to optimize athletic performance and decrease injury potential. Develop testing protocols to determine the effectiveness of strength and conditioning training plans. Assists with teaching proper weight lifting, speed, agility and conditioning techniques.
  • Assists in the implementation of rehab and reconditioning programs prescribed by the Sports Medicine staff. Supervise, instruct and provide technical assistance in designing speed, strength, agility, and conditioning programs for Texas Athletics football student-athletes.
  • Assist with scheduling and supervising the use of weight rooms. Assist with the maintenance and oversight of weight room equipment, to include equipment cleaning and repair. Ensure compliance with weight room rules.
  • Maintain accurate records of student athlete's progress. Effectively and appropriately communicate with supervisor, sport coaches and Sports Medicine Staff and assist with on-campus recruiting for assigned sports.
  • Comply with all University, NCAA, and Conference rules and regulations.
  • Consistently exemplify the core values and quality service standards of Texas Athletics. Always act ethically. Proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule or policy applicable to you or your department/sport program. Actively participate in assigned education and training programs. Comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Conference, or other governing body, including state and federal laws. Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income. Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR. Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation.
