About The Position

The Assistant Clinical Manager (ACM) position at Advocate Sherman Hospital involves providing clinical leadership to ensure high-quality patient care in the Oncology/Surgical Care department. The ACM will assist in the day-to-day operations, collaborating with physicians and healthcare professionals to deliver optimal patient care. The role includes responsibilities such as serving as Charge Nurse, maintaining staffing requirements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and promoting patient safety. The ACM will also be involved in staff development, performance improvement, and maintaining clinical expertise in pediatrics.

Requirements

  • Typically requires 3 years’ experience in specialty area.
  • Ability to assume charge/schedule coordinator role.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work cohesively with a diverse work group.
  • CPR certification and Illinois Licensed Professional Registered Nurse certification relative to specialty area.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty-focused continuing education and/or certifications based upon department discretion.
  • Experience in pediatrics.

Responsibilities

  • Serve in the role of Charge Nurse.
  • Assign patient and non-patient care in a safe, effective manner.
  • Maintain staffing requirements in accordance with established policies and patient volume.
  • Collaborate with physicians, management, and other healthcare professionals to assure quality care and high patient satisfaction.
  • Contribute to achieving system, site, and unit goals by prioritizing duties and responsibilities.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of census, acuity, and staffing.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agency standards and hospital policies.
  • Promote patient safety by reporting issues and participating in safety initiatives.
  • Respond to issues/concerns of patients and families in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate staff attendance at in-services and coordinate orientation of new staff.
