About The Position

The Assistant Clinical Manager for the Clinical Resource Unit at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital is a full-time position that involves providing clinical leadership to ensure high-quality patient care. The role includes planning, coordinating, and managing personnel and resources effectively. The position requires collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assure optimal patient care. The schedule includes two 12-hour clinical night shifts and two 8-hour non-clinical shifts, with the possibility of working on holidays and weekends.

Requirements

  • Typically requires 3 years’ experience in specialty area.
  • Ability to assume charge/schedule coordinator role.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cohesively with a diverse work group.
  • Skills specific to each unit's specialty.
  • CPR certification.
  • Illinois Licensed Professional Registered Nurse certification relative to specialty area.

  • Specialty-focused continuing education and/or certifications based upon department discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Serves in the role of Charge Nurse.
  • Assigns patient and non-patient care in a safe, effective manner.
  • Maintains staffing requirements in accordance with established policies and patient volume.
  • Collaborates with physicians, management, and other healthcare professionals to assure the delivery of quality care and high patient satisfaction.
  • Contributes to achieving system, site, and unit goals by prioritizing duties and responsibilities.
  • Assures accurate reporting of census, acuity, and staffing at predetermined times.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency standards and hospital policies.
  • Promotes patient safety by reporting issues and participating in safety initiatives.
  • Practices the principles of Performance Improvement to contribute to positive patient outcomes.
  • Responds to issues/concerns of patients and families in a timely manner.
  • Serves as a clinical resource to staff and facilitates the Care Management process.
  • Conducts timely and objective performance pathways for assigned staff.
  • Assesses educational needs of the staff and facilitates education opportunities.
  • Coordinates orientation of new staff.
  • Maintains clinical expertise in pediatrics and serves as a resource for clinical care.
