About The Position

WEBB is currently seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to join our Traffic & Transportation Department. We are looking for someone who is interested and has knowledge of traffic and active transportation and is looking for an opportunity to use skills in support of that interest. The Assistant Engineer will work independently and efficiently on multiple projects to meet tight deadlines, work as part of the team and provide support to the team. Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited program
  • I.T. Certification
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Knowledge and understanding of Caltrans Highway Design Manual and Standards, AASHTO Highway Design Guide, California MUTCD, Greenbook / APWA standards, and other related standards

Responsibilities

  • Serve in a technical role under the direction of a Project Manager on the engineering development of urban and rural highway/roadway projects.
  • Completes assigned work independent and as a team within the schedule and number of hours provided.
  • Responsible for preparation and/or modification of select portions of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.
  • Develops project quantities and assist with the development of cost estimates.
  • Assists engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.
  • Able to complete various tasks and duties including but not limited to research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design of projects.
  • Prepare highway designs, including planning documents and PS&E
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines, including structures, hydraulics/drainage, stormwater, traffic, electrical, utilities, right of way, and environmental.
  • Coordinate workload throughout entire project development, and ensure completion of documents on schedule and within budget.
