About The Position

Summary: The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager with planning, coordinating, and executing civil construction projects. This role helps ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to project specifications. The APM works closely with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients. Key Responsibilities: Project Coordination Assist with day-to-day project management activities Help prepare schedules, submittals, RFIs, and project documentation Track project progress and update logs and reports Support coordination between field teams, subcontractors, and suppliers Attend project meetings and assist with preparing meeting minutes Field Support Visit job sites regularly to monitor progress and compliance Assist with resolving field issues and communicating updates to the project team Ensure quality control standards and project specifications are being followed Help review daily reports, quantities, and productivity tracking Budget & Cost Control Assist with tracking project costs and reviewing invoices Support estimating team with quantity takeoffs and bid preparation Help monitor materials, equipment, and labor budgets Notify Project Manager of any cost impacts or changes Document Management Maintain organized project files and documentation Prepare and process change orders under PM guidance Assist with closeout documents, warranties, and final deliverables Ensure all documents meet company and client standards Safety & Compliance Support enforcement of company safety policies on job sites Help ensure environmental, permitting, and regulatory requirements are met Communicate potential safety concerns to supervisors Qualifications: 1–3 years of experience in civil construction, project coordination, or related field preferred Knowledge of civil construction practices (grading, utilities, concrete, roadway, drainage, etc.) Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications Proficient with basic computer tools (Microsoft Office, project management software, etc.) Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree in construction management or related field preferred (not required) Work Environment: Mix of office and field work Exposure to outdoor weather, noise, and active construction sites May require overtime depending on project needs

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in civil construction, project coordination, or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of civil construction practices (grading, utilities, concrete, roadway, drainage, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
  • Proficient with basic computer tools (Microsoft Office, project management software, etc.)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites
  • High school diploma required

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management or related field preferred (not required)
