About The Position

The Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) at North Texas Medical Center is a leadership role focused on overseeing nursing operations, driving quality initiatives, and fostering a positive work environment. The ACNO will assist the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) in various responsibilities, including regulatory compliance, budget management, and developing patient care programs, while also playing a crucial role in shaping the future of the organization through effective leadership and collaboration with staff and physicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of hospital nursing operations.
  • Minimum 2 years of demonstrated successful leadership in an acute-care hospital environment, with a strong background in medsurge, critical care, and ICU nursing (Rural experience preferred).
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in Texas.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) in providing leadership to nurse employees.
  • Maintain necessary regulatory and compliance approvals and quality accreditations.
  • Partner with physicians who use or will use the hospital.
  • Assist in planning new services that generate additional sources of profitable revenue.
  • Create an environment that encourages recruiting and retention of clinical employees.
  • Manage costs by seeking data to identify opportunities and eliminate non-value costs.
  • Establish standards for nursing practices and maintain authority, accountability, and responsibility for nursing services.
  • Develop organizational patient care programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage the nursing services budget and ensure sufficient qualified staff to assess patient needs.
  • Plan and provide nursing care interventions to promote improvement and patient comfort.
  • Analyze areas in planning, promoting, and conducting organization-wide performance improvement activities.
  • Represent nursing services at meetings and participate with department heads in designing patient care and services.
  • Oversee the medical floor and multiple departments within the hospital as assigned.
