The Assistant Chief Flight Instructor is responsible for providing safe, effective, and efficient FAA Part 141 flight instruction operations for the Flight School, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines. This role involves directing daily operations, making hiring recommendations, training staff, and evaluating performance. The Assistant Chief Flight Instructor develops Training Course Outlines, Training Manuals, and Procedures, monitors pilot proficiency and currency, and certifies each student's training record, graduation certificate, and course completion recommendations. Additionally, the position requires maintaining training techniques and standards acceptable to the Administrator, ensuring accurate FAA Part 141 Instructor records, and promoting a positive learning environment for students.

  • Direct daily operations to ensure compliance with FAA regulations
  • Make hiring recommendations, train staff, and evaluate performance
  • Develop Training Course Outlines, Training Manuals, and Procedures
  • Monitor pilot proficiency and currency
  • Ensure FAA 141 required 80% pass rate
  • Certify each student's training record, graduation certificate, and course completion recommendations
  • Ensure each certificated flight instructor passes an initial proficiency check before being assigned instructing duties
  • Ensure each student accomplishes required stage checks and end-of-course tests
  • Maintain training techniques, procedures, and standards acceptable to the Administrator
  • Ensure FAA Part 141 Instructor records are accurate and up to date
  • Audit flight training records regularly
  • Follow objectives of course syllabus
  • Promote a positive learning environment
  • Motivate and encourage students to attend class regularly
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication using various teaching methods
  • Maintain records on each student including grading and attendance
  • Ensure all students are held accountable for flight campus rules and regulations
  • Recommend improvements in course design, materials, equipment, and facilities
  • Develop and implement an annual professional development plan
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Active pursuit of undergraduate degree highly sought
  • Hold a commercial pilot or airline transport pilot certificate and a current flight instructor certificate
  • At least 500 hours as pilot in command; 1000 hours preferred
  • 50 hours of flight time under actual or simulated instrument conditions
  • Flight training experience of at least 1 year and a total of 250 flight hours or 500 flight hours
  • Six months of experience as a ground school instructor at a certificated pilot school for ground school course eligibility
